10 November 2011, Associated Press reports that a Ugandan court has sentenced a man to 30 years in prison for killing a gay rights activist. Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) and their leader Frank Mugisha receives 2011 Rafto Prize

The 2011 Rafto Prize is awarded to Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG). Frank Mugisha, Executive Director of SMUG, will receive the award on behalf of the organisation.
